Method and record template
The blank format we use to keep a baseline, the changes made and a re-test on record, so that a before-and-after claim can be checked.
Why a record
A before-and-after claim is only useful if someone else can check it. For each client we keep the same three records: a baseline, the changes made, and a re-test. Below is the blank format for each. This page is a format only. It contains no client data and reports no results.
Header, filled in once per client
Client site and domain. Date. The person who approves changes. The version of the buyer-question list. The AI search tools and settings used, and how each answer was captured.
1. Baseline record
| Buyer question | Tool and settings | Date and time | Original answer (saved as captured) | Named | Recommended | Own site cited | Accurate | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — | — |
2. Change record
| Change | Reason | Approved by | Date | Live check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| — | — | — | — | — |
Nothing changes without the client's approval. Where possible, one change at a time, so a later difference can be tied to it.
3. Re-test record
| Buyer question | Same conditions as baseline? | Before | After | How sure | Could not check |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| — | — | — | — | — | — |
Rules for reading a record
- An answer that is refused, empty or an error is recorded as “could not be assessed”, not as “not mentioned”.
- Named, recommended and own-site-cited are kept as three separate measures. They are not merged into one score.
- AI answers vary between runs. A record states the change, how sure we are of it, and when the data cannot tell.
- A visit tagged as coming from an AI tool shows an observed tag. It does not prove where the buyer came from.
- A record shows what was measured under the stated conditions. It does not show that a change caused a result.
What this page is not
It is not a report of results, a price list, a commitment, or a sample of client work. Pricing is not published yet and result commitments, where offered, are agreed in writing for each client. See the service page and the Wiki answer on how a result is measured.
